Malcolm Van de Riet II

President


Malcolm Van de Riet II holds the position of President at WhiteOak Live, assuming full responsibility for the organization's operations, including advisory services, acquisition, and development endeavors. With an impressive tenure of 30 years in the real estate industry, Mr. Van de Riet's expertise is further underscored by his prior role as an Adjunct Professor in the esteemed Master of Real Estate Development program at George Mason University.


Previously, Mr. Van de Riet held the position of Division President at Quarterrra (formerly Lennar Multifamily Communities) until 2023. In this role, he demonstrated outstanding leadership and financial acumen in overseeing the DC Metro Division's development of large-scale apartment projects within the Washington Metropolitan Area. During his tenure, the division successfully completed 691 units, with a cumulative value exceeding $380 million. Additionally, Mr. Van de Riet expanded the development pipeline, which encompassed over 1,150 units valued at more than $650 million.


Before joining Quarterra, Mr. Van de Riet served as the President and Founder of White Oak Properties, a company he established in 2000 and managed full-time from 2013 to 2017. In this role, he supervised real estate advisory services for high net worth individuals, institutional clients, and other notable real estate development firms. Under his leadership, White Oak Properties effectively directed the development and construction of projects totaling over $600 million, including 1,100 apartment units.


Prior to taking on his fulltime role at White Oak Properties, Mr. Van de Riet served as the Vice President of Development at Jefferson Apartment Group (JAG), a well-known real estate organization operating in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the United States. He joined JAG in 2009, after the company acquired the Mid-Atlantic division of JPI, where he had been the Regional Director of Development since 2005. In these positions, Mr. Van de Riet led a skilled team in the successful development of more than 1,000 apartment units within the Washington Metropolitan Area.


In 1999, Mr. Van de Riet joined Lerner Enterprises, rising to the position of Managing Director of Development and Construction Administration. In this role, he oversaw a broad spectrum of development and construction projects, maintaining direct communication with the ownership. His duties spanned a diverse portfolio, incorporating both residential and commercial mixed-use developments.


Mr. Van de Riet's professional journey began in 1993 at Jack Kent Cooke Incorporated, where he ascended the ranks and eventually served as the Director of Finance for JKC Stadium Inc., the organization responsible for managing the stadium for the Washington Redskins. He also assumed the role of Project Manager during the construction of Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, now known as FedEx Field.


Educationally, Mr. Van de Riet holds a Master of Science degree in Real Estate Development from George Mason University, enhancing his extensive industry experience. Additionally, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Shenandoah University. On a personal note, Mr. Van de Riet is happily married and takes pride in his role as a father to his son.
